Directors To Watch: Stephan Chbosky

This is a bit more of sleeper pick because he is far less known than the other 3 directors I have highlighted. Each of the last 3 had a three films under their belts and had some major established success. As for Stephan Chbosky he has 2 films under his belt (The Four Corners Of Nowhere and Perks of Being A Wallflower) the former of the two being unknown and as I have heard not that good. The latter of the two however was critically acclaimed and one of my personal favorite films of last year. This will be the film I focus on when highlighting this up and coming writing/directing talent. The most special thing about Stephan Chbosky is that he writes all of his own stories, then adapts them into movies. Perks is a very successful book and a good one at that, which he adapted to a better movie in my opinion. Perks is the work of a more experienced director, and the look and feel of the film felt very much like a veteran. Not to mention Chbosky did a great job drawing raw emotion and great performances from his leading men and women (Ezra Miller, Logan Lerman, and Emma Watson). If you haven't seen this high school coming of age film please go check it out.

Unfortunately it is unknown what is next for Stephan Chbosky, which negates me to write a section clearly on that.
