With the release of Now You See Me, a movie based around illusionist and magic, I take a look at one of the best movies that incorporate magicians. That would be Christopher Nolan's The Prestige, a physiological character study between two magicians. The first time I watched this film I was blown away by the trickery and intellect of the film. The movie boast two great performances by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as the rival magicians who strive to best each other. The movie does take a lot of concentration, and one misstep on the audiences part can result in a bit of confusion. Which is half the fun and leads to an incredible ending that blows your mind all over the back seat. Better than that is the end monologue my Sir Michael Caine, as soon as he dropped that last line I instantly second guessed everything I thought I knew about the film. Then hit the restart button and began to piece the puzzle together all over again. Even if you know what happens when Caine says "Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled." you get all sorts of angry. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO TO ME NOLAN! either way it's awesome and makes for a movie that has a lot or re watch value while being an enticing drama.
