Trey's Blu Ray Collection: Children Of Men

I didn't plan on doing this one today as well but I couldn't help but re watch it yesterday. Children of Men is a movie I regret to seeing well after it's release. I think it took about 2 years of people telling me how great it was before even attempting to look for it on blu ray. One day I went to Best Buy and saw it for 7 dollars, while getting me a free movie ticket to see Oblivion (Still wasn't worth seeing Oblivion). I picked it up and went immediately home to watch it. IT IS AMAZING! one of the most creative, haunting and oddly realistic futuristic movies I have ever seen. This isn't the future with flying space ships and cars it's future that is plague with the lack of children. Alfonso Cuaron creates this daunting world which is breathtaking and impossible to dismiss. The whole movie is about how one man must escort the only pregnant girl in the world to a secret project to save humanity. What first struck me about the film is the cinematography, I recently fell in love with tracking shots, and this film does it better than any I have ever seen. The last 20-30 minutes of the film is a rousing sequence that seems to track forever (I am sure there are cuts in there at specific points). I can't get over the execution and technique that this film has, its spectacular. The best part of the film is it's not very long at all, it's under 2 hours. Which leads to a viewing experience that is extremely complex. without being a chore to get through. It's a really great film, within the 4 months span I have owned it I have watched it around 7 times. Each time it gets better and better.

Verdict: 5 out of 5
