Iron Man 3 Chinese Cut, What Was Marvel Thinking?

Minor Spoilers Below!

Reading up on the added scenes in the Chinese cut of Iron Man 3, I was stricken by how bizarre it actually was. From the comments it has said that the added scenes involve odd moments involving a Asian character pouring a glass of Yili milk drink which is clearly product placement as many has stated. To make it worse there is a commercial before the film asking "What does Iron Man rely on to revitalize his energy" the answer is the Yili milk drink. What kind of paycheck was given to Marvel to add such a unnecessary scene in a selective Chinese cut of the film? My guess is a pretty large one. Not to mention there is an odd scene regarding Stark going to China just for surgery.... as reviewer stated "Nobody goes to China for medical care. That is just stupid." I will not go into more details because I don't want to spoil anything that was in the regular cut of the film. Either way the Chinese content is known to be extremely out of place and does nothing to advance the plot or enhance the story. It's clear, Marvel tried to hard to appeal to a demographic that for some reason they felt needed to be different. I don't get it.

What do you guys think of this move? Let me know in the comments below!
